| With camera turned off, remove memory card. Insert card into card reader. | |
Open the ThumbsPlus software and copy images from the card into the "classtemp" folder (d:\images). Select all images and right click. Go to Quick Process-->Convert to-->JPEG. |

| Files will be converted to JPEG format. The KDC format files will remain highlighted. Before clicking anywhere else, hit delete to remove KDC images. Images may be rotated if needed through the Quick Process menu. | ![]() |

| In the windows start menu, open the Rname-it software to rename the files something useful. Select all files to be renamed. Check "Make changes to Prefix" and "Replace". In the new Prefix box use a date format followed by a hyphen(15may01-). To the top left of the blue highlight, there is a "Prefix" button. Click this, then "Rename it!" at the bottom. The images will be transferred into albums in the image software. If an album does not presently exist for the photos you are transferring, go to http://firelab.nres.uiuc.edu/ ids/admin/index.cgi . The user name is "admin" and the passwork is the normal one. |

| Add an album in the appropriate location. DO NOT upload photos using the "Upload image here" option. This causes the images to not display correctly. Close or minimize the internet browser. | ![]() |
| Open the Secure Shell Client software from the desktop. | |

| The host name is "firelab.nres.uiuc.edu" and the user name is "root". The password is the normal one. | ![]() |
| Click on the yellow file folder in the toolbar. | ![]() |
| Open desired album. The images in this example are being transferred into a student folder within the NRES_341 folder. | ![]() |
| Go to the "images/classtemp" folder in Windows Explorer. Copy images. Minimize Explorer and paste files into the album folder in the secure shell client software. Images will then upload to the server. This takes a few minutes or a long time depending on the number of photos. Find something else to do while waiting. | ![]() |
| Check to be sure the files are on the server, then delete from Windows Explorer the copy of the files that is there. Close the file transfer software. | ![]() |
