1. The glue gun and melted glue are hot and can cause burns.
2. Needles for the syringe are very sharp and have chemical in them. Be careful to avoid sticking yourself with them.
3. The solvent used to glue the plastic should be treated with care. Wear gloves when handling and do not inhale fumes. If necessary, steps involving this chemical may be done under the hood.

| Roll the cage so that it forms a tube. The screening needs to be on the outside of the tube. The ends of the cage should overlap about 3/4". Tape the cage on the inside to hold the ends together. | |

| Align the seam with one edge of the 2x4 and place the second 2x4 on top to flatten the seam, leaving about 1/8" of the seam outside of the 2x4's. This step may require a second person. | ![]() |

| Set cage upright on the floor. See instructions for gluing and attaching a screening lid in the tube cage contruction protocol. Similar procedures are used for the display cage, except a larger flower pot will be needed. The larger black pots belong to the plant biology department.
