Data Backup Protocol

Materials and Equipment Needed

  1. Backup Data File CD's for Thrips 1, 2, and 3

Time Required

10-20 minutes: the computer that is being backed up needs to not be in use

Procedure:Thrips 1 (left of printer)

Open Windows Explorer on Thrips 3.  Select the data folder for Firelab178-57 under Network Neighborhood.
Right click and select Map Network Drive.
Change drive to K:
Place "Thrips1-Data File1" CD in the Recordable CD Drive.  Select Backup Thrips 1 from the Windows Start menu.
Backup is finished when the "Done..." appears at the bottom of the box.  Remove CD (leaving it writeable for future backups) and write date of backup in CD case.

Procedure:Thrips 2 (right of printer)

Step

Open Windows Explorer on Thrips 3.  Select the data folder for Firelab178-58 under Network Neighborhood.  Right click and select Map Network Drive.

 

Change drive to J: 

 

Place "Thrips2-Data File1" CD in the Recordable CD Drive.  Select Backup Thrips 2 from the Windows Start menu.

 
Remove CD and write date of backup in CD case.

Procedure:Thrips 3 (near hood)

Step

Place "Thrips3-Data File1" CD in the Recordable CD Drive.  Select Backup Thrips 3 from the Windows Start menu.

 

Remove CD and write date of backup in CD case.
